On November On the occasion of the World COPD Day, the Volterra Ricerche Onlus Foundation, in collaboration with the Respiratory Rehabilitation Unit of Auxilium Vitae Volterra, organized two days entirely dedicated to this pathology.
COPD, Chronic Obstructive Pulmonary Disease, is a chronic respiratory disease characterized by airway obstruction and is a major cause of morbidity and mortality worldwide. The disease is determined by genetic, behavioral and environmental factors, where the most important risk factor is cigarette smoking, together with environmental pollution.
It is important to diagnose and treat this disease early in order to slow down the clinical course.
On Sunday, November 12th u. s. the Doctors Pulmonologists and Psychologists of Auxilium Vitae were then available to citizens to provide information on the pathology and the correct lifestyles, with free clinical examinations, spirometry, and administration of tests related to quality of life. The day was also enlivened by a concert held at the Auxiliary Rehabilitation Department of Auxilium Vitae by the Popular Choir of Via I ° Maggio which, in collaboration with the Music Academy of Volterra, enlivened the afternoon for patients and their relatives.
On Wednesday, November 15th u. s. day of “Open Outpatient Room” at the Respiratory Rehabilitation Department of Auxilium Vitae where Citizenship was accepted to perform free more detailed checks on respiratory function, completed spirometry and possible bronchodilation and blood gas testing.
